Drug Discovery for Nervous System Disorders:  On October 2, 2009 the U.S. Department of Heath and Human Services National Institutes of Health announced the availability of funding for the Drug Discovery for Nervous System Disorders Program (Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance number 93.242).  The purpose of this program is to accelerate the process of drug discovery and development to make quantum leaps toward novel and effective treatments for mental disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, and nervous system disorders associated with aging.  The application deadline is January 25, 2010.  Eligible applicants include state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education, for profit organizations and faith-based organizations.  To request an application package, visit www.grants.gov.  For further information, contact Jamie Driscoll, Division of Neuroscience and Basic Behavioral Science, National Institute of Mental Health, 6001 Executive Boulevard, Room 7184, Bethesda, MD 20892-9641, (301) 443-5288, jdrisco1@mail.nih.gov.
